Andrew Durham is a Photographer
& Interior Designer based in Brighton

Andrew has worked on a wide variety of photographic, video and web based projects. Recurrent themes are Landscape: Processes of transformation, thresholds of abstraction, interventions natural & man made, nature & industry, place & non-place, slowness & speed, mimicry & pattern. Abstraction: In everyday activities and experience. Identity: Dressing for pleasure, fashion & brands, the erotic & mundane, the repetitive rituals of everyday life.

His films have been shown at the ICA London and Queerupnorth (Manchester's international festival of lesbian gay and queer arts). He has had articles and editorials featured in Academy Editions & Architectural Design and total:spec magazine.

Andrew is currently exploring the shifting perspectives of driving at night. Landscapes illuminated and limited by artificial light. What is it we actually see and experience when the iconography of signs, orders and warnings are removed? Is there a visual language that is common or beautiful in our shared experience of driving and what are those specifically?

Andrew trained in Interior Design at London Metropolitan University graduating in 1988. He has over 30 years' experience in architectural practice working with amongst others Foster & Partners, HTA Architects, JTP Architects, Azhar Architecture and Morgan Carn Architects. He enjoys engaging with ideas and working with people and brings an overlapping range of skills and expertise to projects.
